The onset of depression occurs for different reasons and the consequences have a significant impact in a person's life. Young and middle age adults share common consequences and some consequences differs among both age groups.
- Loss of a Job: Depression interferes with a person's work performance. Leaving early, coming in late and excessive call outs will result to termination.
- Health Problems: Untreated depression can transpire into other illnesses such as; drug addiction or suicide.
- Avoid Social Events: A depressed person prefer to isolate from friends and family members, which may lead to relationship problems.

- Middle age adult men are prone to commit suicide. Men displaying depressive feelings can be perceived as weakness.

- Experience loss of interest in activities and school grades decline.
- Self-harm and depression are closely relatable. This behavior mostly affects young adults, which provides relief.
